The Camino de Santiago on foot, on horseback or by bicycle

Walking the Camino de Santiago is an unique and non-transferable experience, no matter what way of traveling you choose to enjoy it because it will be something incredible.

And, although most pilgrims undertake the Camino de Santiago on foot, more and more people travel by bicycle or on horseback.

To use the bicycle implies some variants in the routes, originally designed for walkers, but equally well signaled and described in the specific manuals. In this case, special attention should be paid to vehicle traffic -especially if traveling in a group-, use the appropriate clothing (reflective colors) and provide everything related to possible breakdowns or repairs. A complete review before departure will avoid disappointment.

On the other hand, the road on horseback is the one that needs more preparation, a stage that includes the choice of the animal, its veterinary recognition and vaccines and its training with the load on lands similar to those that will be traversed. Logic indicates that the horse must be insured to respond to accidents.

In addition, the riders usually make a previous trip to arrange the places where the animal will spend the night and leave the sacks of feed that will eat en route. During the pilgrimage, it is necessary to monitor their food, hygiene, health and accommodation daily.
