International Festivals in Galicia

Galicia currently has 12 Festivals of International Tourist Interest, one of them recently approved, the Cocido de Lalín Fair. And in Galicia we are very festive, and all of them are perfect to know our culture and gastronomy.

 

Do you know them all? Take note:

 

1. International Festival of the Celtic World in Ortigueira: it is celebrated in July and is a world reference in the world of folk.

2. Santiago Apostle: it is celebrated on July 25 in the capital of Galicia and for a month Santiago de Compostela brings together hundreds of activities in which fireworks stand out on the facade of the Cathedral.

3. Holy Week in Ferrol: it is celebrated during Holy Week and the passage of its brotherhoods and brotherhoods is very special

4. Holy Week in Viveiro: as in Ferrol, this town in Galicia shows its passion for this holiday

5. Bonfires of San Juan in A Coruña: Orzan beach hosts hundreds of bonfires every June 24 to celebrate the shortest night of the year

6. A Rapa das Bestas de Sabucedo: it is celebrated in A Estrada and during a weekend the horses are the protagonists, where their neighbors cut their mane in a show that unites struggle and strength between people and horses

7. Romaría Vikinga de Catoira: the first weekend of August, the vikimgos return to Catoira to remember their settlement in this place

8. Corpus Christi de Ponteareas: the Sunday following the Corpus this town of Pontevedra leaves everyone present in love with all its carpets of flowers that fill its streets

9. Feast of the Arrival in Baiona: it is celebrated on March 1 and commemorates the arrival of the Pinta caravel to the port of Baiona

10. Albariño Wine Festival in Cambados: the first weekend of August is the turn of the wine, the Albariño wine. The Rías Baixas wineries show their best wines in Cambados

11. Xinzo Carnival of Limia: Orense is the quintessential capital of Carnival and Xinzo has a month-long schedule full of activities in which fun is the main protagonist.

12. Feira do Cocido de Lalín: it was the last to be added to the list, but no less important. The Sunday before Carnival is the day on which Lalín celebrates his Feira do Cocido, in which he honors this traditional Galician dish
