Compostela welcomes 2023

The Galician counterpart to the Puerta del Sol to welcome each new year could be no other place than the Praza do Obradoiro, with the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela as a backdrop. And, as usual, December 31 is full of activities to say goodbye to 2022.

From activities for the little ones to sports

The morning will be dedicated to the entertainment of the little ones at home. The Multixogo Nadal is ready for all children to say goodbye to 2022 with fun in hand. This great children's entertainment event, which will open its doors from 10.30 to 14.00 hours, is located in the Multiusos Fontes do Sar and will feature various workshops and even children's DJ session with chimes.

In addition, as it could not be otherwise in these dates and to prepare our bodies for the dinners that are coming, on December 31 is celebrated, also in Santiago, the traditional San Silvestre race.

In its ninth edition, Carreiras Galegas says that they have more than 700 registrations (and if you want to participate, you have until midnight to sign up!).

Although if you are passionate about cycling routes, you will also have the pedal version of the San Silvestre. The activity is aimed at people over 14 years old, is free and will go through some of the most emblematic viewpoints of the city, such as Charlemagne, monte de Deus, As Cancelas and outeiro do Pozo da Neve.

The Berenguela receives the 2023 accompanied by music

The Clock Tower of the Cathedral, the Berenguela, is in charge of ringing the twelve chimes that will welcome 2023. Although this building is surrounded by numerous legends in which the devil goes for a walk if it rings thirteen bells, instead of twelve, we are sure that saying goodbye to the year, close to the cathedral, is a unique experience.

From 23.00 hours will begin the countdown to take the grapes in the Praza del Obradoiro. Admission will be free until full capacity and there will be music by the orchestra Fania Blanco Show. In addition, there will be three presenters of the Galician Television, Arturo Fernández, Noelia Rey and Paco Lodeiro, who will conduct the evening from the Pazo de Raxoi.
