Playa de las Catedrales and Playa de Rodas: two beaches to discover Galicia during Easter
With the arrival of Easter, many people are looking for quiet and beautiful destinations where they can enjoy a vacation full of tranquility, natural beauty, good gastronomy and culture. In this sense, the Galician coast, with its almost 1,500 kilometers of extension, is presented as the perfect destination for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle and immerse themselves in a unique environment. For this reason, we propose two beaches to let yourself be enraptured by Galicia and take long walks with the sound of the waves in the background.
Praia das Catedrais
Praia das Catedrais is one of the coastal tourist enclaves par excellence. Located in the Mariña oriental luguesa, between the municipalities of Barreiros and Ribadeo, this beach surprises for its imposing rock formations, some of them with more than thirty meters high, which resemble arches and vaults reminiscent of Gothic cathedrals.
That is why, what makes Playa de las Catedrales so special are its incredible slate cliffs, eroded by wind and water over millennia, forming arches and caves of great beauty. At low tide, visitors can walk among these rock formations and admire how whimsical and wonderful nature can be. However, it is important to note that during high tide, much of the beach can be submerged, so it is essential to check the tides before planning a visit.
The area is protected within the Natura 2000 Network and covers a coastal stretch of about 15 kilometers in which we can also find sandy beaches such as Os Castros or the beautiful port of Rinlo.
During busy seasons such as Easter or summer, it is necessary to book in advance to enjoy the Cathedrals Beach.
Rodas Beach
The beach of Rodas is one of the most outstanding and visited natural jewels of Galicia and the largest sandy area of the Cíes Islands. This beach has been internationally recognized for its beauty, so much so that in 2007 it was declared by the British newspaper The Guardian as the best beach in the world.
What makes Rodas beach so special is its unique combination of soft white sand, crystal clear waters and an enviable natural environment. The beach stretches for almost one and a half kilometers. In addition to its stunning natural features, it offers spectacular views of the Cíes Islands and the Atlantic, making it a perfect place to relax and disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Like das Catedrais beach, authorization from the Xunta is required to visit the archipelago in busy seasons.
Although these are only two of the almost one thousand beaches that make up the Galician coastline, they give us an idea of all the beauty that Galicia has to offer. And you, which beach would you recommend to visit at Easter?
