Five gastronomic festivals to enjoy the Galician Entroido
Galicia stands out for its rich gastronomy and even more when we talk about the typical dishes of Entroido: cocido, filloas, orejas, androlla, cachucha, and much more! Today we know some of the most important gastronomic festivities of these dates.
Cocido de Lalín
Declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest, the Cocido de Lalín is one of the most awaited dates by all stew lovers. The 55th edition will be held on February 12 and, although it is the big day, visitors can taste this traditional Galician dish from January 15 to February 14, since "From San Amaro to San Valentín, Cocido month in Lalín".
Filloa de Lestedo
There is no meal without dessert and, in Lestedo, they know it well. On the Sunday following Shrove Tuesday, this year on February 26, this town not only enjoys the particular carnival led by the Xenerais da Ulla, but also filloas á pedra, both sweet and savory.
Cuntis and its lacón con grelos
Next Sunday, February 26, will take place the XXIV Festa do Lacón con Grelos of Cuntis, a festival that finds its origin in 1998 and that serves to exalt the gastronomy and the Galician carnival with its particular Burial of the "Chapante".
Viana do Bolo and the androlla
Made with pieces of pork ribs marinated with paprika, salt and garlic, the androlla is the flagship of the gastronomy of Viana do Bolo. On Entroido Sunday, this characteristic product is the main protagonist of the day and is usually accompanied by cachelos and grelos (turnip greens).
Festa do Botelo do Barco de Valderorras
As can be guessed, dishes made with pork are typical at this time of the year. In Valdeorras we find the botelo, butelo or bitelo, a sausage of very short curing, which uses the animal's stomach as a container -which makes it the largest elaboration of this type- and which is at its peak only for a few days. It is a delicacy! The festival, declared of tourist interest, celebrated its XXI edition on January 21.
Although these are perhaps some of the most famous events, the gastronomy and the carnival party meet in many other parts of Galicia. We can mention, for example, the Cachucha de Allariz, the Feira do Grelo de Monfero or the Festa da Androlla de Navia de Suarna among many others.
